Cryptocurrency Market
Bitcoin (BTC): $80,525 — down approximately 1.2% since October 17
Bitcoin remains near the important $80,000 level. Institutional ETF flows improved during the first half of the week before substantial withdrawals Thursday and Friday. A sustained recovery above $84,000–$85,000 would strengthen the technical outlook, while a break below $80,000 could accelerate selling.
Ethereum (ETH): $2,340 — down approximately 3.8%
Ethereum remains under pressure despite growing institutional adoption. JPMorgan’s expansion of JPM Coin to Ethereum is an important development, but increased network activity has not yet translated into stronger ETH prices. I am watching $2,300 for support and $2,500–$2,600 for recovery.
Solana (SOL): $101.27 — down approximately 3.1%
Solana continues to attract interest in tokenized securities and institutional settlement, but its token remains near $100. A sustained recovery above $110 would be encouraging, while a break below $100 could introduce further weakness.
XRP: $1.30 — down approximately 0.8%
XRP was relatively stable during the period. Institutional settlement and cross-border payments remain important themes, but the token needs to reclaim $1.40–$1.50 to establish stronger momentum.
BNB: $742.69 — up approximately 3.1%
BNB was among the stronger major cryptocurrencies. Trading activity and ecosystem usage remain important drivers. I am watching $750–$800 for upside confirmation and $700 for support.
Cardano (ADA): $0.205 — down approximately 8.0%
Cardano experienced another difficult period, with selling pressure continuing across smaller altcoins. The $0.20 level is an important reference, while recovery above $0.24–$0.25 would improve the outlook.
Dogecoin (DOGE): $0.0777 — down approximately 3.2%
Dogecoin remains sensitive to speculative sentiment. Without stronger market participation, I would remain cautious. The important levels are $0.07–$0.075 on the downside and $0.085–$0.09 on the upside.
Hyperliquid (HYPE): $76.57 — down approximately 4.0%
Hyperliquid remains an interesting decentralized trading platform, but the token has weakened. My focus is on sustainable trading activity, fee revenue, liquidity, and token economics. I would watch $70–$75 for support and $85–$90 for recovery.
Key Market Drivers
1. Bitcoin ETFs experienced volatile institutional flows
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $301 million in net inflows during the week, although the totals remain subject to final reporting adjustments.
The pattern was uneven. More than $1 billion flowed into funds during the first three sessions, followed by approximately $774 million in withdrawals Thursday and Friday.
Ethereum ETFs experienced approximately $221 million in weekly outflows.
The divergence reinforces my preference for Bitcoin over most altcoins until institutional demand broadens.
2. U.S. regulators finalized important stablecoin rules
On October 21, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued its final rule implementing the GENIUS Act, effective January 18, 2027.
The regulations establish federal requirements for payment stablecoin issuers, including reserves, redemption, and risk management.
This is a significant milestone because clearer regulation should make it easier for traditional financial institutions to evaluate stablecoin applications and the associated risks.
3. Higher oil prices and interest rates remain concerns
Brent crude finished above $116 per barrel as Middle Eastern supply disruptions intensified.
Elevated energy prices create additional inflation risks and complicate Federal Reserve policy.
The Fed’s October 27–28 meeting will be important for cryptocurrencies, particularly if policymakers signal that interest rates may remain elevated or increase further.
4. Institutional blockchain adoption continues
JPMorgan, HSBC, and other global financial institutions are expanding blockchain-based financial services.
This supports the long-term investment case for digital financial infrastructure, although the economic benefits to individual tokens will vary substantially.
5. Altcoin participation remains weak
Bitcoin continues to outperform Ethereum, Solana, and many smaller cryptocurrencies.
I would prefer to see stronger relative performance and improving institutional flows before meaningfully increasing altcoin exposure.
Emerging Crypto Projects & Ecosystem News
JPMorgan expands JPM Coin to Ethereum
On October 19, JPMorgan announced that JPM Coin, its U.S. dollar-denominated deposit token, is now available on Ethereum for institutional clients.
The expansion allows institutions to use tokenized bank deposits for blockchain-based financial transactions and settlement.
This is particularly significant because JPMorgan is bringing an established banking product onto a public blockchain.
HSBC launches a regulated stablecoin
On October 23, HSBC launched RedCoin, a Hong Kong dollar-denominated stablecoin available through its PayMe payment platform.
The service is being introduced to more than 3.3 million users, with applications for consumer payments, merchant transactions, and eventually tokenized assets.
This represents another major bank moving blockchain-based payments into everyday financial services.
U.S. stablecoin regulation advances
The OCC’s finalized GENIUS Act regulations establish a more defined framework for payment stablecoins.
The rules also clarify how regulators will evaluate rewards programs associated with stablecoin holdings.
The development is particularly important for companies such as Circle and Coinbase, whose businesses are increasingly connected to stablecoin adoption.
Tokenized equities encounter resistance
Twenty-two publicly traded companies have now objected to plans by OKX and Intercontinental Exchange to create blockchain-based trading of their shares.
The objections highlight the importance of issuer approval, shareholder rights, regulatory compliance, and market transparency.
Tokenization remains promising, but its development will require cooperation between technology providers, exchanges, regulators, and existing securities issuers.
Market Sentiment & Outlook
My near-term outlook remains cautious, but the long-term institutional adoption story continues to improve.
Three indicators will determine whether I become more aggressive:
- Bitcoin holds $80,000 and reclaims $85,000. This would provide initial evidence of a stronger recovery.
- Institutional ETF flows become consistently positive. Sustained inflows would demonstrate renewed investment demand.
- Ethereum and Solana begin outperforming Bitcoin. Broader participation would suggest improving market confidence.
The Federal Reserve meeting on October 27–28 will be the principal macroeconomic event. GDP, PCE inflation, and major technology earnings could also affect risk appetite.

GARCH Volatility Outlook — 90 Days
The following are illustrative 90-day price scenarios, not newly estimated GARCH statistical forecasts. A formal GARCH update would require recalibration using historical return data.
| Cryptocurrency | Current Price | Illustrative 90-Day Range | Central Scenario |
|---|---|---|---|
| BTC | $80,525 | $65,000–$100,000 | $85,000 |
| ETH | $2,340 | $1,800–$3,100 | $2,550 |
| SOL | $101.27 | $70–$150 | $115 |
| XRP | $1.30 | $0.90–$1.85 | $1.45 |
| BNB | $742.69 | $550–$950 | $800 |
| ADA | $0.205 | $0.14–$0.32 | $0.24 |
| DOGE | $0.0777 | $0.05–$0.12 | $0.09 |
| HYPE | $76.57 | $50–$115 | $90 |
The substantial ranges illustrate the risks associated with cryptocurrency investing, particularly among smaller assets.
The strongest upside scenario would require improving global liquidity, sustained institutional inflows, and greater participation across the cryptocurrency market.
Long-Term View
The long-term opportunity increasingly centers on financial infrastructure rather than speculation.
JPMorgan’s Ethereum expansion, HSBC’s stablecoin launch, and finalized U.S. stablecoin regulations demonstrate how traditional finance is adopting blockchain technology.
However, not every cryptocurrency will benefit equally. I continue to favor platforms with actual users, sustainable fees, strong liquidity, transparent token economics, and institutional acceptance.
Bitcoin remains my preferred core digital asset, while Ethereum, Solana, and Hyperliquid provide exposure to different areas of decentralized financial infrastructure.
GARCH (Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity) volatility model
The following charts present 6-month historical price trends for the top eight cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, SOL, LINK, XRP, BNB, ADA, and DOGE), using the GARCH (Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity) volatility model, which is commonly used in financial markets to capture the clustering nature of volatility—periods of high volatility tend to follow high volatility, and calm periods tend to persist. Using recent return data, the model projects expected volatility levels and translates them into forecast price bands with midpoint targets and potential highs under strong momentum scenarios. This is trial for the next 4 weeks and will be enhanced.
